I entreat your acceptance of a leetle Purse which I hope you will condescend to use in remembrance of the Housemaid of the Black Forest

Faint writing on the verso appears to read ‘C.D. Shrewsbury’. The conjectured date refers to the time of CD’s farewell visit to his father and sisters.
