Darwin Correspondence Project

To Eduard Strasburger   9 December [1876]1

Down, | Beckenham, Kent.

Dec. 9th

My dear Sir

I am very much obliged to you for kindly sending me your new book. The amount of work, & work of extreme difficulty as is obvious from the Plates alone, which you effect is truly astonishing.2

With much respect | yours faithfully | Charles Darwin

Footnotes

The year is established by the publication date of Strasburger 1876b.

CD’s copy is in the Darwin Library–Down. Strasburger sent the French translation of the first edition (Strasburger 1876a) earlier in the year; see letter to E. A. Strasburger, 9 March 1876.
