Surgeon and physician. MRCS (England) and LSA (London), 1854. House surgeon, Staffordshire General Infirmary. Acting assistant surgeon in the Crimea; struck off from the army in 1855 after a Court of Inquiry for writing letters to newspapers. MD, St Andrews, 1856. Practised in London. Health officer in Trinidad, circa 1867. Emigrated to New Zealand, 1872–3, practising in Dunedin; Ross, 1878–80; Hokitika, 1880–2; Christchurch, 1883–6; and Auckland. MD, New Zealand, 1877. Physician, Christchurch Hospital. Author of ‘The pathology and treatment of small-pox’ (1867), and other works.
