Thomas Brown
1811–93
Scottish minister of religion, geologist, and botanist. Studied at Edinburgh University; DD 1888. Moderator, Free Church of Scotland General Assembly, 1890. Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 1861. In geology, studied mostly quaternary deposits; in botany, studied the flora of Langton, Berwickshire.
