Titus Coan
1801–82
American missionary. Entered Auburn Theological Seminary in 1831. Licensed as a Presbyterian minister, 1833. Missionary in Patagonia, 1833–4; at Hilo, Hawaii, 1835–82. Visited the Marquesas Islands in 1860 and 1867. Published Adventures in Patagonia (1880), and Life in Hawaii (1882).
