Hermann Rudolph Schaum
1819–65
German entomologist and doctor. Practised medicine in Stettin until 1846, when he turned to entomology. Habilitated in zoology at the University of Berlin, 1851; extraordinary professor, 1857. Entomological editor for the Archiv für Naturgeschichte, 1848–52. Travelled in Europe, America, and Egypt; taught entomology, natural history, and medical zoology.
