Banker. Partner in the firm of Overend, Gurney and Co., money-lenders. MP for Penryn and Falmouth, 1857–65. Member of the committee of the Anti-slavery Society; president of the Aborigines’ Protection Society. Director of several telegraph companies. Fellow of the Linnean Society of London.
