George Nugent Grenville, 2d Baron Nugent of Carlanstown
1788–1850
Irish-born politician and writer. Matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford, in 1804. Succeeded as Baron Nugent of Carlanstown in 1812. MP for Buckingham from 1810; for Aylesbury from 1812 and 1847. Lord of the Treasury, 1830–2. Lord high commissioner of the Ionian Islands 1832–5. Advocated parliamentary reform and religious liberty.
