George Charles Wallich
1815–99
Surgeon and zoologist. Served with the Indian army medical service, 1838–57. Joined HMS Bulldog as naturalist to the North Atlantic telegraphic expedition in 1860; discovered evidence of animal life at great oceanic depths and published his findings. Also published on the Protozoa.
