Charles Voysey

1828–1912

Theistic preacher. BA, Oxford, 1851. Incumbent of St Andrew’s, Craigton, Jamaica, 1858; curate at St Mark’s, Whitechapel, 1861; at St Mark’s, Victoria Docks, 1863. Vicar of Healaugh, 1864. Denounced for unorthodoxy, 1869, and expelled from the Church of England, 1871. Founded the Theistic church, which was based in Swallow Street, London, from 1885. His reforming sermons were widely published from the late 1860s.
