Nathaniel Thayer
1808–83
American financier and philanthropist. Partner in the Boston investment banking house John E. Thayer & Brother. Benefactor of Harvard College; sponsored the construction of a herbarium, 1863–5. Overseer, Harvard College, 1866; member of the board of fellows, 1868–75.
