Quintino Sella
1827–84
Italian mineralogist, crystallographer, and statesman. Professor of geometry (later of mathematics), Instituto Tecnico di Torino (later University of Turin), 1852. An active member of the Accademia dei Lincei; a founding member of the Italian geological society and of the Alpine Club. Entered politics in 1860. Italian minister of finance, 1862, 1865, and 1869–73.
