Alpheus Spring Packard, Jr
1839–1905
American entomologist. Studied under Louis Agassiz. Qualified as a physician but practised for only a few months. In 1867, co-founder, with Edward Sylvester Morse, Alpheus Hyatt, and Frederic Ward Putnam, of the American Naturalist, which he edited for about twenty years. Professor of zoology and geology at Brown University, 1878–1905.
