Felix von Luschan
1854–1924
Austrian physician, anthropologist, and explorer. Studied medicine in Vienna and Paris from 1871; specialised in craniology. Awarded a doctorate in 1878. Army doctor. Assistant to the director of the Ethnological museum in Berlin, 1885; director of the Africa and Oceania department. First professor of anthropology at the University of Berlin, 1909–22.
