Darwin Correspondence Project

To J. V. Carus   23 January 1873

Down, | Beckenham, Kent.

Jan 23 1873

My dear Sir

Although my memory does not aid me, I have no doubt that the description in small type of the wood-cut is correct, & that I have in the two places in the large type referred to the wrong vertebra; so that it is as you suppose. You are a most conscientious editor & are as careful as I am apt to be careless—1

yours very sincerely | Ch. Darwin
