Monsieur,

Dear Sir,
I write to request the honour of being received by you, on the recommendation of Dr. Büchner.2 Having had the honour of wielding a pen in France, I have been among those who have sought to popularise your admirable work.
Having fled to England after my country became the scene of frightful catastrophes,3 I am now searching for some compensation in conversations with men like you, who have devoted their lives to the search for Truth.
Please accept, dear Sir, the assurance of my respectful and sympathetic admiration | Dr A. Regnard
