From Emile Alglave1 9 March 1871
le 9 mars 1871
Monsieur

9 March 1871
Dear Sir
You will recall that about a year ago I proposed that some chapters from the new book you were preparing should be published in the Revue des cours scientifiques.2 You replied that you were anxious that your work should appear at one go.3 It has now been out for some weeks. I should like to give an account of it in my Revue as soon as possible and to translate some extracts. I should be very happy if you were to consent to correct the proofs of our Revue, like all English authors whose work appears in the Revue.
In the midst of the painful circumstances we have just gone through, the Revue du cours scientifiques has only appeared irregularly, and we are just now finishing our 7th year, which was supposed to have been completed on 1st of December last. From 1st of April the Revue will appear regularly, with a wider scope.4
I should be delighted if you were able to send me a copy of your book, since I have been only able to find its title in The bookseller5
Wth kind regards | Em. Alglave
