In reply to your letter of the 11th inst I beg to inform you that I have forwarded this day the Diploma in question to 6 Queen Ann St.1 and request you to let me have a receipt for the same which I may transmit to the University of Breslau.2

CD’s letter has not been found. He had been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Breslau (see letter from Maurice Alberts, 10 February 1862). CD’s brother, Erasmus Alvey Darwin, lived at 6 Queen Anne Street, London.
