Darwin Correspondence Project

To Emma Darwin   [21 April 1851]

[Malvern]

Monday | 7o. 30’ P.M.

Fanny gave her a spoonful of tea a little while ago, & asked her whether it was good & she cried out quite audibly “it is beautifully good.”— She asked, so says Brodie, “where is poor Etty?”.—

The Dr. has been here everything going on as favourably as possible: but we must have the surgeon this evening again, I am sorry to say.—

She has slept most tranquilly almost all afternoon, perhaps too tranquilly— We have bathed her again with vinegar.—

Summary

An evening report on Annie Darwin’s somewhat improved condition.
