Albany Hancock
1806–73
Zoologist and palaeontologist. Collaborated with Joshua Alder on the Monograph of British nudibranchiate Mollusca (1845–55). Contributed several papers on the boring apparatus of sponges, molluscs, and cirripedes to the Tyneside Naturalists’ Field Club, which he had helped to found in 1846. Fellow of the Linnean Society of London, 1862.
