Darwin Correspondence Project

From Julius von Haast   2 June 1864

Christchurch, | NZ.

June 2d. 1864

My dear Mr Darwin.

I was truly sorry to hear through Mrs. Darwin that the state of your health would not allow you to answer yourself my last letter,1 but I trust that ere you receive this, you will be entirely restored to your family, your friends and to Science. Will you present my kindest regards and convey my best thanks to Mrs Darwin for her great kindness in having written to me

The principal object of this note is only to enquire after you, hoping as I do, that the rest for some time from intellectual labour has again given you the necessary strength to continue your eminent researches.

Believe me my dear Mr Darwin | very sincerely yours | Julius Haast

Ch Darwin Esqre | FRS. etc.
