To John Tyndall   22 December [1878]1

Down, | Beckenham, Kent. |( Railway Station | Orpington. S.E.R.)

Dec. 22d.

My dear Tyndall

I return the Siren with very many thanks.2 The plants, ill-luck to them, are not sensitive to aerial vibrations. I am ashamed at my blunder, & very much more so at having vainly given you great trouble. I have, however, been glad to see the famed Siren.

My dear Tyndall | Yours truly obliged | Ch. Darwin
